Terms of Use

Updated October 28, 2026

By using ipaddress.co.nz you agree to these terms.

The service

ipaddress.co.nz provides information about IP addresses, domains, autonomous systems and network ranges, compiled from your connection, public registries and third-party data sources. The service is provided free of charge and “as is”.

Accuracy

We take care to present data correctly and to label its source and limitations, but we cannot guarantee that data from third parties is complete, current or accurate. IP geolocation is approximate and must not be used to locate or identify individuals, for emergency services, or as the sole basis for legal, financial or security decisions.

Acceptable use

You may use the tools for personal and professional purposes. You may not:

  • send automated or bulk requests that degrade the service for others, or circumvent rate limits;
  • use the service to harass, stalk or identify individuals;
  • attempt to use the service to reach systems you are not authorised to access, or to probe or attack our infrastructure;
  • collect registration (WHOIS/RDAP) data in bulk through the service, or republish data from the service at scale in a way that violates the terms or licences of the underlying data providers.

We may block access that violates these terms.

Third-party data and licences

Some data is licensed from third parties and remains subject to their terms — for example, IP geolocation by DB-IP (CC BY 4.0), place names and time zones from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0), routing data from APNIC and the regional internet registries, .nz registration data from the Domain Name Commission’s WHOIS service (individual queries only), and map data © OpenStreetMap contributors via OpenFreeMap.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss or damage resulting from the use of, or inability to use, the service or the information it provides. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.

Changes

We may change these terms; the version published on this page applies.
